Cover photo of butchers shops in Station Road Rainham in around 1926. At the time Rainham had at least 13 butchers shops. The photo shows the two opposite each other either side of Shakespeare Road, now Hothfield Road.

Many butchers were specialists but Copsey with the staff outside was a general meat supplier whilst London Central Meat Company proclaim Prime Ox Beef above their window.

Both shops were still butchers in 1971 but by 1951 William ALfred Dennis owned 78 Station Road and the shop remained with the same family for at least the next 20 years.
