I am trying to find out information about a small factory in Rainham.

The information I have is as follows:

I believe it was called Elm Plastics but that may be incorrect. This firm in the 50s was the manufacturer for the injection moulded Muffin the mule with a magnetic carrot. Sold by the firm called Gantoy. The also produced the badges for Ford cars. These were the badges with the Ford emblem on the hub caps and in the middle of the steering wheel (Ford Classic). The subsequently they made mouldings for Revell construction kits. If I remember correctly it was North of the Watling Street. The plastic bits were put together and packaged by women mostly at home. It was said in those days the pay was very bad.

The Owner was a Mr Michalkiewitz. (Ex. Free Polish Airforce, Spitfire Pilot) He lived in Wigmore Road Gillingham. He had 2 Daughters, Barbara and Danuta. The older one in the 50s used to drive his Aston Martin DB2/4, the younger only had a Vespa.

Any Ideas?
