The Rainham Cycling Club, according to the 1908 directory, was a large and enterprising Club with its headquarters at the Lion Hotel. The Landlord, Phil Curling, was their Treasurer and may be seen second from the right in the front row of this photograph. He was much involved in all the sporting activities that took place in Rainham.
