Hello,

I was born in Gillingham, in Windmill Road, 1942 and moved in 1946/7 to the disused Army Camp in Maidstone Road.  There I stayed until my parents obtained a council house in Gillingham in about 1955.  I attended the Primary School at 'The Camp' under the headmastership of Mr Rivers.  I would be so grateful if you have any information or photographs of 'The Camp' - especially of the school - as it seems to have entirely disappeared!

Thank you,

Stuart McIntosh

I went to the Camp School.1947-1949. I remember the little gardens we used to do and the haystacks we used to play on. I seemed to recall either the Headmaster or our teacher was called Mr.Burroughs. Fond memories of my time there but not of a boy called Stanley Hornwho had a glass eye and used to take it out with a hair pin when we were eating our dinner.

I also went to the Camp School and have just sent a class photo to the website email address. I started at the Camp School in 1951 at the age of 5. I lived in Harvey Road at the time, my maiden name was Hunt. If the site owner puts up the photo and you recognize yourself do get in touch. Nora, I did like the tapioca pudding and school milk, I was always hungry in those days!

I was born on Robets Road and lived on Thames Ave - before my family moved to the states I attended the camp school, but hated the tapioca pudding and refused to eat it. I had to sit there for what seemed hours.
