The organisation currently known as Kent Reliance was previously the Kent Reliance Building Society before it was bought out by JC Flowers private equity as a result of the financial crisis of 2008.

KRBS - Kent Reliance Building Society was previously known as Chatham Reliance Building Society until the late 1980s when it became Kent Reliance. I wasn't aware until today that the previous name for it until 1953 was Chatham and District Reliance Permanent Building Society. It's hardly surprising they changed as that was quite a mouthful!

The note below shows the resolution for the name change was passed on 19th November 1953 and took effect from 9th December 1953. The current head office was already in use by 1953 at Reliance House, Manor Road, Chatham, Kent
